Azerbaijan, Kuwait exchange views on mutual cooperation
By Sara Rajabova
The prospect of relationship between Azerbaijan and Kuwait was discussed during the meeting of Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kuwait Tural Rzayev with newly elected Speaker of National Assembly of the country Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
Rzayev conveyed greetings of Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Oqtay Asadov to Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
Praising the close bilateral ties in the field of politics between the two countries, they exchanged views on the expansion of the mutual and fruitful cooperation in all spheres, particularly in the fields of economy and culture.
They stressed the importance of the bilateral documents signed between the two countries.
The Ambassador praised the reciprocal visits of members of the Azerbaijan-Kuwait Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Al-Ghanim invited his Azerbaijani counterpart Asadov to Kuwait.
The Azerbaijani ambassador provided an insight into the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting the importance of the solution of the conflict peacefully.
Nagorno-Karabakh is an Azerbaijani region occupied by Armenia along with seven adjacent regions since a war fought by the two South Caucasus republics in the early 1990s. Years of OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
Ambassador Rzayev also spoke of the UN's four declarations running the Armenian aggression down against Azerbaijan and calling the occupier to withdraw its troops from the Azerbaijani territories, noting that Armenia has ignored all these declarations.
They also exchanged views on the issues of mutual concern.
Recently, Kuwait appointed its new ambassador to Azerbaijan.
Newly appointed ambassador Saud Abdulaziz Al-Roum will take his office in the next month.
Azerbaijan and Kuwait established diplomatic relations on October 10, 1994 with Azerbaijan opening an embassy in Al-Kuwait in 2004 and Kuwait opening an embassy in Baku in 2006.
