Turkmenistan records GDP growth

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth was recorded at a level of 9.42 percent in Turkmenistan during the first six months of 2013, Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said at the Cabinet of Ministers' meeting.
"Thanks to the country's thought-out investment policy, attraction of significant foreign investments to the country, the coordinated work of all bodies, the real growth of the GDP volume hit 9.4 percent," he said.
All branches of the country's economy have been rapidly developed in this period. The growth in the industry is 6.6 percent, in construction- 17.7 percent, in service sector- 11.3 percent, in agriculture -7 percent.
The country's leadership has taken the course for the economic diversification. Oil and gas processing sphere, textile industry, cotton processing industry and production of construction materials have been recently developed.
Local media also reported that the growth in the sphere of oil and gas condensate production, the volume of oil processing and the production of oil products, as well as petrol, polypropylene, liquefied gas was observed for the first six months of 2013.
During the period of time, the plan of well drilling was over-fulfilled by 40.7 percent compared to 118.9 percent in 2012.
