Slovakia refutes reports on adoption of bill criminalizing denial of Armenian ‘genocide’
The Slovakian Embassy in Moscow officially refuted a report published on Thursday by the Armenian media outlets with reference to the publication Nouvelles d'Arménie and later by the Russian media outlets on the adoption of a draft law on criminalizing denial of the "Armenian genocide" which was allegedly said by the Slovakian Supreme Court Chairman Stefan Harabin.
"This draft law has been never submitted to the National Assembly (parliament) of Slovakia, has been never approved and thus failed to have the validity of law, as it was reported. Also Stefan Harabin's position as a deputy prime minister as reported is untrue," the embassy's statement sent to Trend news agency on Friday says.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that the predecessor of Turkey - Ottoman Empire had committed the 1915 genocide against the Armenians living in Anadolu. The Armenians, willing the recognition of this fact in the world, achieved recognition of the "Armenian Genocide" by the parliaments of some countries.
