British Council Azerbaijan to hold Producing and Programming workshop

The British Council Azerbaijan will organize the Producing and Programming workshop on May 13-14 in Baku.

The British Council Azerbaijan in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan announced the continuation of the Behind the Scene initiatives implemented within Theatre Partnership project.

The Producing and Programming workshop within the Behind the Scene project is designed to reflect local arts ecology and outcomes and geared to what is practically achievable.

The workshop will be run by Gary Hills and David Mickelm at the Park Inn Hotel. Over 20 participants from performing arts sector in Azerbaijan will be encouraged to share knowledge and experience and to discuss new ways of working and to investigate new 'creative producing' and collaboration models from a range of innovative UK perspectives.

The course is facilitated by Hills and Mickelm drawn from a pool of experienced UK performing arts professionals.

Gary Hills is an established producer, professional coach and mentor for artists/arts managers in the performing arts sector. His clients include the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Independent Theatre Council. He is also a mentor for the participating companies in the Caravan international showcase that forms part of the prestigious Brighton Festival's programme.

David Micklem is an experienced producer, cultural leader and strategic thinker with a demonstrable track record in supporting artists, delivering significant arts projects and influencing policy. His most talked-about performance projects of the last decade include Punchdrunk's mould-breaking The Masque of the Red Death, Royal de Luxe's The Sultan's Elephant, BAC's One-on-One Theatre Festival and WildWorks' BABEL.
