Azerbaijani weapons to be presented at IDEF 2017

Azerbaijan’s defense production will be presented at the IDEF 2017, 13th International Defense Industry Fair to be held in Istanbul on May 9-12.
A total of 260 kinds of local defense production, designed and produced by enterprises of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry, will be presented at the four-day exhibition.
An extended delegation headed by Defense Industry Minister Yavar Jamalov will visit Turkey.
During the visit, Jamalov is expected to meet with representatives of the Turkish government and heads of several delegations attending the exhibition.
In general, 300 companies from 50 countries are expected to participate in the exhibition. IDEF is the biggest defense industry fair in Eurasian region and one of the top five in the world.
Azerbaijan, which is in war with neighboring Armenia over the latter's groundless territorial claims during more than 20 years, keeps in focus the armament. The country creates its own armament and works closely with leading companies and firms in various fields of military industry.
The Defense Industry Ministry increased the volume of defense industry products in 2016 by 1.6 times compared to 2015, while the product assortment rose by 1.8 times. Currently, twenty-eight military factories are operating within the ministry.
This year, Azerbaijan plans to start mass production of several weapons, including sniper rifle Yalguzag (Steppenwolf), light machine gun of special purpose, automatic grenade launch complex, machine guns of various calibers, F-1 typed hand grenade and other military products.
