No life in Armenia: rural resident

By Mushvig Mehdiyev
Unemployment has made life unbearable in Armenia's eastern district of Sisian, while people even have no hope for any improvement.
Agriculture is the main industry of the region, while there are not conditions to develop the economy.
"There's no life in Sisian," a rural resident told local media. "It is one of the most neglected regions of the country."
People in Sisian look for money in every corner, because life is not so easy here, he added.
Almost all residents of the region are jobless. "There's no job in Sisian as there are no products, no factory," the desperate resident said. "Only few people have job in Sisian and they work in police, military and customs point."
The rest residents rely on their own resources by keeping livestock, harvesting, and trading agricultural products as government has forgotten them.
Hard social condition of people turned the country into a land of migration. Remittances from overseas migrants and migrant workers are playing an important role in the country's development. All these factors greatly "helped" Armenia to get a red flag mark in the International Migration Organization's map.
