Top officials hold board meeting on Eurasia military association

A board meeting dedicated to the creation of the Eurasia group of law enforcement bodies has been held in Baku with the participation of top military officials from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, Trend news agency reported.

The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani Internal Troops Commander, Lieutenant-General Zakir Hasanov, Turkish Gendarmerie Commander, General Bekir Kalyoncu and Commander of the Kyrgyz Internal Forces, Colonel Sovetbek Arbayev, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said.

Hasanov in his remarks informed about the fruitful work done for establishing the Eurasia Military Law Enforcement Bodies Association in the last two years.

According to Hasanov, the organization will broaden cooperation among relevant bodies of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia and provide broad opportunities in the educational process, upgrading military service, and sharing of experience.

Bekir Kalyoncu and Sovetbek Arbayev expressed confidence in further expansion of the cooperation among relevant agencies.

The key goal of the Eurasia Military Law Enforcement Bodies Association is to strengthen and develop relations between the association member states, and encourage modern and effective initiatives.

A memorandum of understanding was undersigned by the members of the Association at the meeting.

Joint armed forces of Turkic-speaking countries involving Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia (TAKM) were created last week as a result of the founding conference held in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. This followed the signing of a protocol on establishing the Eurasian association in Ankara in 2011.
