Gabala Int’l Exhibition of Art opens

The fourth Gabala International Exhibition of Art opened with a
solemn ceremony on December 19.
Organized by the Azerbaijani Culture Foundation and
Azerbaijan-Korea Cultural Association SEBA, the event took place in
the country’s picturesque city of Gabala.
The ceremony was attended by Emergency Situation Minister
Kamaladdin Heydarov, rector of Baku State University Abel
Maharramov, MP Fattah Heydarov and many art figures. World-renown
actor and singer Steven Seagal also visited the exhibition.
The exhibition entitled “Sports, beauty and life,” dedicated to
the 1st European Games features 137 works of 112 artists from 19
countries including Azerbaijan, Germany, Belarus, Czech Republic,
Estonia, Georgia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, Montenegro,
Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine and
Greece.
Baku hosted the inaugural European Games, the significant event,
which brought together more than 6,000 athletes from 50 countries,
who competed in 20 sports this June.
SEBA’s Chairman Ruhangiz Heydarova said the annual event has a
big role in the country’s cultural life and this exhibition is a
continuation of projects, within the promotion of the national
culture.
Touching upon SEBA’s acitivity over the last 10 years, Heydarova
noted that compared to the previous exhibition, this one has
brought together more artists and countries.
“This event also creates conditions for strengthening of friendly and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and different countries,” she said.
Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov, famous Azerbaijani artist Tahir Salahov, Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kim Chang-gyu, and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nazim Samadov also addressed the event, saying that the international exhibition is an integral part of intercultural dialogue.
The speakers noted that the current exhibition, which presents a variety of art works will forever be remembered, and voiced hope that the wonderful and picturesque nature of Gabala will be a source of inspiration for artists.
The exhibition will last till January 7, 2016.
