Saudi Arabia has obtained intelligence indicating possible preparations for attacks against the kingdom, allegedly involving Yemen's Houthi movement and Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq, AzerNEWS reports, citing Al Arabiya.

The source said there is "reliable intelligence information" suggesting that Iran-supported groups are preparing potential attacks against Saudi Arabia. The information reportedly indicates that the Houthis in Yemen and Iraqi armed factions have been coordinating activities as part of the alleged preparations.

According to the information, some of the collected intelligence includes monitoring the movement trajectories of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as part of preparations for possible simultaneous attacks.

It was also added that potential targets could include civilian and energy facilities, as well as critical infrastructure such as airports and seaports.

The reports of impending attacks come a day after the Houthis claimed responsibility for an attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, a key shipping route. In the past few weeks, Saudi Arabia has come under missile attacks from the Houthis in Yemen and drone attacks from Iran-backed militias in Iraq.

Despite the reports, the official said Saudi Arabia would continue its de-escalation efforts and contacts with Iraqi authorities.
