Iran: Extension of U.S. sanctions violates nuclear deal

By Trend

The US Senate’s passing a 10-year extension of sanctions against Iran on December 1 violates the nuclear dear signed between Iran and P5+1 (the US, France, the UK, Russia, China and Germany), Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.

“It violates the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as well as the US commitments not to interfere in the countries’ interior affairs and international relations,” the official website of Foreign Ministry quoted Qasemi as saying Dec. 2.

The bill now will be submitted to the White House for President Barack Obama to sign it into law.

Qasemi said Obama committed himself to veto any action in the United States which violates the nuclear deal implemented in January.

He also said Iran commits itself to all of its obligations based on the nuclear deal.

“We monitor Washington’s actions and we will prepare a report about violations in JCPOA implementation for the joint commission,” he added.

The joint commission comprises representatives of Iran and the P5+1 Group with the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy.
