Young employees' database to be launched in May

By Nigar Orujova

A single database on young personnel created in the frame of the state program on support for Azerbaijani youngsters covering the period 2011-2015 will be launched in May, the Youth and Sports Ministry reported on Thursday.

According to the national legislation dated May 5, 2007, people aged between 14 and 29 are considered young in Azerbaijan.

The database will be available for a limited number of organizations, including state bodies and major private companies, which hire and attract to their projects young people who comply with the companies' requirements and are enlisted in this database.

Nongovernmental and nonpolitical organizations will be able to reflect information on talented youth including education, language and working skills, in the database, which will be regularly updated.

However, data will be added to the database only after verification by a special group of experts, which will be set up under the Youth and Sport Ministry.

The Azerbaijani youth, numbering 2.8 million people or around 30 per cent of the country's population, constantly benefits from the government's support.

In recent years Azerbaijan adopted the Law on "Youth policy"; the State Program on Youth of Azerbaijan was approved in 2005 and 2011. Nationwide forums for youth are regularly conducted and 2007 had been announced as Year of Youth in the country. Funds allocated from the state budget to support young people increase year-on-year.
