Iranian Railways has begun supplying Turkmenistan with rail cars after resuming production at its four rail car building plants after a four-year hiatus.

"About one hundred Iranian rail cars have got the access to Turkmenistan's railways," said Iranian Railways CEO Pour Seyed Aghaie at the opening ceremony of the new rail carriage line in Zanjan.

Moreover, Iranian Railways has already signed contracts on building 3,500 rail cars for sale to foreign companies.

Aghaie also discussed the basics of the Iranian Railways programs.

The Company provides for the transit of goods between Russia and Central and Northern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as the supplies between South and South-East Asia, the Far East, Oceania, and the Persian Gulf countries.

The newly operational four rail car building plants had utilized 60 billion tomans (around $18 million) worth of loans from external and internal investors, notes Aghaie.

Cooperation between the two countries has entered a new stage after the recent Turkmen-Iranian Business Forum in Ashgabat.

The forum has been significant for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, trade and economic spheres, the chemical industry, and the agriculture and food industry, which were specified among priority areas of cooperation.

The guests noted that favorable conditions and opportunities for business development and foreign investments boost Iranian business' interest in building up cooperation with Turkmen partners.

During the meeting, Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Seyed Mohammad Musa Hashemi Golpaegani reaffirmed his country's willingness to cooperate with Turkmenistan as a state that possesses huge resources and economic potential and has won the reputation of a reliable and strong partner.

The heads and representatives of Iranian companies specializing in the fuel and energy complex, the production of construction materials, the chemical industry, and agriculture, particularly Pars Pegah Tejarat, Iritec, Sadid Group and others, were invited to the forum as guests.
