The 4th Intellectual Youth Festival "Baku Pearl 2013" for the intellectual game "What? Where? When?" was held in the framework of a project implemented by the Great Silk Road international youth union at JW Marriott Hotel Absheron Baku on July 13.

"I am very glad to have launched the Baku Pearl project, which has its own traditions, features and quality of organization," coordinator of the project Ayan Bashirzade told Azernews. "Now, Baku Pearl is the brand for many young intellectuals who wait for it impatiently every year."

According to Bashirzade, 25 best teams participated in the tournament.

Speaking at the opening of the tournament, Azerbaijani parliament member Fuad Muradov regarded this event as an opportunity for young people to show their intelligence and knowledge.

Holder of the "Crystal Owl" prize Andrew Supranovich hosted the game. The game included 60 questions (four stages each having 15 questions).

After the first two rounds a "Brain-ring" quiz-type game was held for the top 16 teams, hosted by the winner of the "Crystal Owl" Rovshan Askerov. The Vae Victis team won the first place in the competition.

The winner of Baku Pearl 2013 was the PVS team, which consisted of Aziz Murshudli, Roman Orkodashvili, Emin Aliyev, Adnan Akhundov and Said Sadikhov. The Everest team took second place and the third place went to the KiPL team.

The Intellectual Youth Festival "Baku Pearl" has been held since 2010. This tournament has been registered in the Moscow-based International Association of Clubs.

"What? Where? When?" is an internationally popular game in which teams of six people are asked intellectual questions and are then given a minute for discussion to come up with an answer.

A group of the best 15 Azerbaijani teams will also take part in the Black Sea Open Cup intellectual tournament to be held in Batumi, Georgia on July 26-28.
