Ancient mounds,headstones discovered in south of Azerbaijan

More than 30 mounds and headstones dating back to the second-first
centuries BC were discovered in the territory of Alar village of
Yardimli region, Azerbaijan, senior researcher at the Institute of
Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences
(ANAS), PhD in history Anar Agalarzade reported.
The village is situated at height of 2,000 meters above sea level.
Agalarzada noted these mounds and gravestones were found by archaeologists in the vicinity of the Peshtasar ridge of Talysh Mountains.
The list of archaeologists finds included vase, crockery, beads of agate and other jewelry made from bronze.
The archaeologists suggest that these valuable findings are relate to the culture of the nomadic tribes of the late Bronze and early Iron Ages.
He said in the future new large-scale excavations would be made here.
Agalarzade noted that the current archaeological expedition is continuing in the villages of Okyu and Arvana of Yardimli regions.
