Political parties and public unions are nominating candidates as the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan draw closer.

Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Bahar Muradova believes that the situation on the eve of the November 1 parliamentary elections is normal.

“There are no obstacles to the activities within the law,” she told Trend on September 3.

Muradova noted that excellent conditions have been created in the country to prepare for the elections and to organize the campaigns.

"We should maximally use these conditions," she said.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 1. Twenty-five people from 19 electoral districts have put forward their candidacies.

The Central Election Commission has already reviewed and approved 158 permanent representatives of ruling New Azerbaijan Party, 21 from the Civil Solidarity Party, and 10 from the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan for the upcoming parliamentary election.

Campaigning will start on October 9 and will end on October 31 at 8:00, exactly 23 days before voting as required by law. This year, it will begin on October 9 and end on October 30. Campaign leaflets will be placed at polling stations until October 2.

All election documents necessary for the registration of candidates should be submitted to the district election commissions from September 12 until 18:00 October 2.

Registration for election monitoring should be submitted to the CEC by October 22.

Meanwhile, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will take part in observing the elections. Some 380 observers are expected to come to the country. 30 of them will carry out long-term and 350 short-term observation missions.

The Chairman of the CEC of Russia, Vladimir Churov, told journalists that the representatives of the Russian CEC would also be monitoring the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

To conduct transparent elections, more than 1,000 cameras are expected to be installed in polling stations in Azerbaijan’s regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Some 296 cameras will be installed in Baku polling stations alone.
