Karabakh conflict hampers implementation of regional projects: minister

By Jamila Babayeva
The Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict hampers the implementation of projects throughout the region and negatively affects its safety.
Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov made the remark at the discussion panel during the third Caspian Forum in Istanbul on December 5.
"Peaceful resolution of conflicts plays an important role in
improvement of business atmosphere in the world, growth of commerce
and reduction of risks," the minister said.
He also stressed the importance of implementing the U.N. Security
Council's resolutions on the liberation of the Armenian occupied
territories of Azerbaijan.
Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. Armenia constantly violates a ceasefire agreement signed with Azerbaijan in 1994 and refuses to implement the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
