Azerbaijan is interested in purchasing Russian wind turbines for desalination produced by corporation Uralvagonzavod (UVZ), the developer of this project Maxim Kuzin told reporters on September 29 during the exhibition of armament ADEX-2016, RIA Novosti reported.

Saudi Arabia already plans to buy a massive shipment of these wind turbines, he noted. This development by UVZ was presented at ADEX-2016 for the first time. The wind turbine was introduced within mobile service center for maintenance of armored vehicles.

“We see Saudi Arabia as the main market for our wind turbine. The country said that it plans to obtain all the electricity for its infrastructure on desalination from wind. Negotiations have been going on for about four months,” said Kuzin.

He added that this development has interested Azerbaijan and Belarus as well. In the foreseeable future, UVZ plans to install it for trial operation in the countries that are potential customers.

“Our vertical wind turbine is distinguished by its quietness and small rotation. This design produces 10 kilowatts of electricity per day, it has a very low start-up speed – just 1.4 meters per second is enough to begin its rotation,” Kuzin noted.

Uralvagonzavod heads the integrated structure incorporating more than 20 industrial enterprises, research institutes and design offices in five federal districts of Russia. The enterprise includes metallurgical, car-building, mechanical-repair, tool, mechanical assembly production etc.
