Georgian parliament to investigate Communications Commission’s activity

Georgia's parliament created an investigative commission, to be headed by MP from the Georgian Dream ruling coalition Tina Khidasheli to investigate the activity of the Georgian National Communications Commission.

The term of a 12 member-commission's office will be three months and the parliamentary majority does not exceed a half.

The Parliament voted for establishing a commission in early March in accordance with a complaint made by phone companies, including leading companies Ahteli and Akhali Kselebi to the legislative body against the National Communications Commission.

The complaint includes the violations made by members of the National Communications Commission, as well as abuse of a senior position, falsification of documents, non-compliance with the court decisions.

Head of the National Communications Commission Irakli Chikovani resigned in April.
