Azerbaijan's government has approved the law of domestic and international goods transit.

The new law is aimed at implementing the order of Azerbaijani president to enforce the Customs Code of the country. It sets the conditions for goods transit.

Based on the law, the goods which are set to be transited must remain unchanged, except for cases of natural damage or loss. Moreover, it must be delivered strictly on time and by route specified by the customs authority.

Meanwhile, goods delivered to Azerbaijan's customs as part of international transit rules must be declared in a period of time not exceeding 15 days from the date of delivery. If this period is not enough for getting all necessary documents, the customs authorities can extend it by a written statement of the cargo owner. The same rule applies to internal transit.

"Rules are not extended for the cases of forced or technical landing of aircrafts in Azerbaijan or for the cases in which the loading or unloading process or other related operations have not been made," the document says.

The Azerbaijani cabinet also approved rules for determining the preferential and non-preferential origin of goods and the conditions of processing goods by customs authorities.
