A new innovative project is being prepared in Azerbaijan, envisaging to open new customs checkpoints on the border with neighboring countries, said Safar Mehdiyev, chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, Trend reports Jan. 29.

He was speaking at a conference dedicated to the implementation of the State Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Azerbaijani Districts in 2014-2018.

He noted that the main objective of the project is to support the development of entrepreneurship in the issues related to the export of goods.

"We also plan to implement an e-queue project at customs checkpoints in order to reduce density," said Mehdiyev. "We believe this will be a good help in terms of ensuring timely implementation of customs procedures.”

He noted that this year, expansion and modernization of already existing customs checkpoints is expected.

On Jan. 29, Baku hosted a conference dedicated to the implementation of the State Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Azerbaijani Districts in 2014-2018.

The event was attended by about 200 entrepreneurs and representatives of the public sector. As part of the conference, entrepreneurs were able to give questions to ministers and heads of various government agencies, submit complaints and suggestions.
