Agricultural products prices increase in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan saw an increase in the prices for agricultural products by 1.5 percent in December 2014 compared to November, State Statistics Committee said.

The committee noted that the annual and perennial prices increased by 1.5 percent and 4.9 percent, respectively, in December.

The prices of wheat increased by 6.4 percent, barley - 3.1 percent, bean seeds - 8.1 percent, sugar beet - 20.1 percent, cabbage - 3.1 percent and potatoes - 0.6 percent, persimmon - 14.7 percent, feijoa - 2.5 percent, lemons - 6.7 percent, tangerines - 12.7 percent, quince - 32.9 percent, apples - 2.4 percent, pears - 7.5 percent, chestnuts - 7.1 percent, hazelnuts - 4.6 percent, nuts - 2.9 percent, while the prices for tomatoes decreased by 11.1 percent and oranges by 5 percent in December.

The prices of animal products increased by 0.8 percent, while beef and poultry in live weight decreased by 2.6 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively, in December compared to November 2014.

The prices of sheep and goats have increased by 0.3 percent, lamb in live weight – 0.1 percent, milk - 0.8 percent, eggs - 14.4 percent, the wool of sheep and goats - one percent.

The Statistics Committee went on adding that production price index for industrial goods in Azerbaijan decreased by 19.6 percent in December 2014 compared to November.

The production price in the mining industry decreased by 22.3 percent and in the processing industry by 2.1 percent in the reported period.
