New satellite imagery has raised questions over whether Iran relocated part of its enriched uranium stockpile shortly before airstrikes carried out by Israel and the United States in June 2025, AzerNEWS reports.

According to an analysis of imagery dated June 9, activity was observed near an underground tunnel complex in Isfahan, where a heavy-duty truck was seen transporting what appeared to be 18 shielded containers.

Experts cited in the reports suggest the containers resemble Type B nuclear transport units, which are typically used for moving sensitive radioactive material. If confirmed, they could potentially accommodate a significant portion—estimated at up to 540 kilograms—of Iran’s uranium enriched to 60%.

Such a move, analysts say, may indicate that Tehran relocated material from key facilities, including Natanz and Fordow, ahead of the strikes.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has not confirmed the exact location of the material, and its current status remains unclear.

Experts note that uranium enriched to 60% could, in theory, be further processed to weapons-grade levels of around 90% within a short timeframe, potentially in about 10 days—if advanced centrifuges are used.
