Turkey increases spending on energy imports
Energy imports to Turkey from January to October 2012 cost the country 12.3 per cent more than in the same period in 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute's report published on its website said,Trend news agency reported.
Turkey has imported energy resources worth $49.6 billion for 10 months. Thus, the energy imports amounted to 25.4 per cent of Turkey's total imports and 71.4 per cent of the country's foreign trade deficit.
In particular, imports of oil, gas and bituminous coal increased by 16.6 per cent to $32.2 billion. Turkey imported electricity worth $183 million, petroleum products - $13.6 billion and coal - $1.9 billion in January-October.
