Armenia's sabotage attempt on frontline thwarted

The Armenian armed forces continue sabotage on the frontline, attempting to cross the contact line between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.

An Armenian sabotage and intelligence group attempted to attack one of the posts of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in the Fizuli region, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced.

Thanks to the vigilance, valor, and bravery of the Azerbaijani units, the enemy's attempt was exposed and strongly thwarted.

After a brief firefight, the enemy was forced to retreat while suffering losses.

Ensign Asif Mammadov and soldiers Tural Isagov and Mirza Mirzali, who were slightly injured as a result of the shootings, were hospitalized. The health condition of the servicemen is stable and their lives are not at stake.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces are in full control of the situation in the area where the sabotage attempt took place.

The Armenian intelligence group has attempted to attack the posts of Azerbaijani armed forces on the frontline on several occasions, but was forced to retreat.

Also, the ministry reported that the Armenian armed forces opened fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the nameless heights in the Gadabay region from their positions in the nameless heights in Armenia's Krasnoselski region on the night of May 22.

Subunits of the Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire with Azerbaijan near the villages of Gorgan, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli, Ashagi Seyidahmedli, AsagiVeysalli of the Fizuli region, Sarijali, Javahirli villages of the Aghdam region, Gekarh, Chilaburt villages of the Tartar region and Mehdili village of the Jabrayil region, and nameless uplands. The Armenians were silenced with retaliatory shootings.

The Armenian armed forces have intensified ceasefire breaches on the contact line of between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops since the beginning of 2014. As a result of ceasefire breaches, several Azerbaijani soldiers were shot dead on the frontline.

Earlier, the ministry reported that ceasefire violations which have begun since January are mostly observed in the Fizuli, Agdam, Terter, Goranboy, Khojavend, and Jabrayil districts. In all cases, the enemy's shooting was answered by retaliatory fire.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994, but Armenia has continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for their immediate and unconditional withdrawal.
