Azerbaijan's tourism potential was successfully presented at the UITT (Ukraine International Travel and Tourism Exhibition) 2019 international tourism fair, which was held on March 27-29 in Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

The Azerbaijan Tourism Board and partners from the tourism sector of the country have demonstrated Azerbaijan's potential in this area, new tourist routes, as well as leisure opportunities during the beach season, which starts in Azerbaijan from June and lasts until mid-September, AZERTAC reports.

The seminar was also held in the framework of the exhibition, in which the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and its partners made a presentation for representatives of the Ukrainian tourism sector.

UITT is Ukraine's leading travel and tourism event. UITT is a traditional annual meeting place for international tourism organizations, national and regional tourism committees, tour operators and travel agencies, government representatives, air companies, hotels, carriers and media.

The tourism relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan are based on the documents signed in July 1998. Tourism has become one of the priorities of the country's economy and there are wide opportunities for tourism development today. In Azerbaijan and Ukraine, special events, frequently dedicated to the culture of both countries, are held.

Azerbaijan is among the top five CIS countries in terms of the number of tourists coming to Ukraine.

As many as 57 640 Ukrainian citizens visited Azerbaijan in 2018, which is also one of the best indicators among the CIS countries. Ukrainians made up 2 percent of 2,849,600 tourists visited Azerbaijan in 2018.

Mostly young people from Ukraine come to Azerbaijan to visit Baku and the nearby cities. Families who visit Azerbaijan, stay for a longer period in the country. Spa and health resort, gastronomic tour lovers, as well as business travelers make up the majority of tourists.

Annually, leading hotels, motels and tour operators of the western regions of Ukraine take part in the International Tourism Exhibitions in Baku.

Ukraine will also be represented at the Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair (AITF 2019) to be held in Baku in April 2019.

In the tourism sphere, the Embassy of Ukraine organizes on an ongoing basis presentations, exhibitions of tourism, sanatorium and resort potential in our countries. In this context, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the city of Truskavets and the Azerbaijan Tourism Association.

Trustkavets, Ukraine's central resort city, is keenly interested in cooperation with the tourist regions of Azerbaijan.

It was recently decided to promote Truskavets and Naftalan resorts both as part of health tourism in both countries.

In recent years, the flow of Azerbaijani tourists to Ukrainian Truskavets, where Carpathian sanatorium is located, has increased. Azerbaijan takes the third place after Russia and Belarus in terms of the number of tourists coming to the sanatorium every year.
