So far, Tehran has received a total of $ 6.1 billion of its frozen oil revenues under an interim nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group.

Following a later agreement by the two sides to extend their talks, it was decided that Iran, in six more payments, receives another $ 2.8 billion of its funds kept in foreign banks.

Some $1.9 billion of the $ 2.8 billion, has so far been freed up in four tranches and deposited with the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Press TV said.

Earlier, Iran also received $ 4.2 billion of frozen oil income in eight installments in exchange for limiting certain aspects of its nuclear activities.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council- the U.S., France, Britain, Russia, China - plus Germany reached a deal on Tehran’s nuclear energy program in last November 24, 2013 in the Swiss city of Geneva. The deal took effect on January 20 and expired six months later.

Meanwhile, India recently said it paid Iran $ 500 million to clear part of its oil dues to the country.

However, ISNA reported on November 6 that Iran is yet to receive a fifth payment of $ 500 million, which was scheduled to be deposited into the CBI’s account on November 3. The country is to receive the final batch worth $ 400 million by November 23, a day before the expiry of the renewed deadline between Tehran and the six world powers.

With the completion of the oil due payments, Iran will recover as much as $ 7 billion of its oil revenues.

The U.S and EU imposed sanctions on Iran's oil and financial sectors at the beginning of 2012 under the pretext of potential deviation toward non-civilian purposes in Iran's nuclear energy program. Iran has repeatedly denied the Western allegations against its nuclear energy program.

The sanctions are aimed to prevent other countries from purchasing Iranian oil and conducting transactions with the Central Bank of Iran. At the end of 2012, the EU foreign ministers reached an agreement on another round of sanctions against Iran.
