Iran's top official off to Russia for talks
Deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has left Iran for Russia, to hold talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Trend news agency reported, referring to Fars agency.
The sides plan to discuss recent developments in the Middle
East, especially in Syria.
During Bogdanov's visit to Iran last month, the Syrian issue has
also been discussed.
A few days ago, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran and Russia regularly
confer on the Middle East developments and particularly the
situation in Syria.
"We [both] support Syrians and national dialogue, and are against
foreign intervention in Syria," he said.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people,
including large number of security forces, have been killed in the
violence.
The Syrian government says certain Western states, especially the
United States, and their regional allies are fueling the
unrest.
