Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s participation in the Warsaw NATO Summit 2016 is significant success of Azerbaijan’s diplomacy and the president’s policy.

Samad Seyidov, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), made the remark while talking to Trend.

Seyidov, who is also the chairman of the international and interparliamentary relations committee, said that the issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict have been discussed at every NATO summit as part of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

"I am sure that the discussions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be carried out at this summit within Azerbaijan's interests," he said. "The fact that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has been repeatedly confirmed at the NATO summits, testifies that all international organizations support and protect Azerbaijan’s position at a high-level.”

Seyidov voiced belief that President Aliyev’s participation in the Warsaw NATO Summit will further strengthen the country's position.

“While cooperating with all organizations, we always adhered to Azerbaijan’s interests,” he added. “This is President Aliyev’s principle and the world community will be once again updated on Azerbaijan's position within this principle."

Azerbaijan’s diplomacy has recently achieved great success, according to Seyidov.

"The positive discussions on Azerbaijan held in the Council of Europe, the European Parliament's ratification of the agreement on Azerbaijan-EU cooperation can be cited as an example," Seyidov stressed.

The NATO summit is being held in Warsaw July 8-9. This Summit is the first to be hosted in Poland and the first to be chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who took up his post in October 2014, according to NATO.
