Azerbaijan sends aid to Georgia
Azerbaijan has sent large quantities of medicine to Georgia,
following orders issued by President Ilham Aliyev to the Health
Ministry.
Five trucks loaded with medicine have been dispatched to the neighboring South Caucasus republic where military action flared in the breakaway republic of South Ossetia from August 8-12. The humanitarian aid is being sent to alleviate the shortage of medicine caused by the outbreak of violence in Georgia, the ministry said.
The 25 tons of aid, worth some 400,000 manats ($494,000) and to be distributed by Georgia`s healthcare authorities, chiefly contains medicine required for emergency rooms, traumatology and surgeries.
