Azerbaijani embassy presents protest note to French Foreign Ministry

The Azerbaijani Embassy in France presented a note of protest to the French Foreign Ministry in connection with the beating of two Azerbaijanis in the National Assembly in Paris, the embassy told Trend news agency on Wednesday.

Protest notes will be also handed to the French president and National Assembly of the country, the embassy said.

"We want the members of the French parliament to consider these events," the embassy said.

Two Azerbaijanis - Head of the House of Azerbaijan Mirvari Fataliyeva and Vusal Huseynov were beaten by representatives of the Armenian community of the French National Assembly during the event '25 years after Sumgait events: the present situation and future prospects for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh', organised by the Armenian community in France.

Mirvari Fataliyeva and Vusal Huseynov, who live in France, learned about the event and appeared at the conference hall. Informing the event participants about the fact that the Khojaly genocide was committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani civilians on that day, they began chanting appropriate slogans. However, their slogans were met with threats.

The event participants after closing the hall doors brutally beat the Azerbaijanis.

Police officers and doctors arrived at the scene.

At present the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

Trying to protect his compatriot from being beaten, Vusal Huseynov was seriously injured. His internal organs were injured and a rib broken.

The incident occurred in the presence of several members of the French parliament and none of them took any preventative action.
