Ricciardo: Baku’s race to be fastest city circuit of 2016 season
Formula One cars can hit the speeds of up to 350 km/h on the Baku City Circuit, says Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo.
Speaking at a press conference June 16 in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the eve of the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe, Ricciardo said the Baku circuit will be the fastest city circuit of the 2016 season.
"We have not tested the track yet, as we arrived late at night," he said.
The Red Bull driver added that his team will fight for the prizes of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe in Baku.
Ricciardo also says that the Baku circuit is very interesting and difficult.
"The long straight road is not very good for us, but we will compete at the turns," he added. "We plan to start the racing with the ultrasoft tyres."
Ricciardo also said he is in Baku for the first time and he is very excited before the upcoming race.
"We have not had time yet to get acquainted with the city, but it is impressing," he said, adding that Baku is much more than he was expecting.
