Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector fetches over half of taxes in Q1

The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan has provided over 1.523 billion manat of tax payments to the state budget In the first quarter of 2013, according to a statement posted on the ministry's website on Friday.

According to the statement, the share of profit tax payments amounted to 36.1 per cent of the total tax payments, the share of value added tax payments - 24.8 per cent, income tax - 12.7 per cent, excise tax - 8.3 per cent and other taxes - 18.1 per cent.

Tax payments from the non-oil sector amounted to 839.184 million manat, constituting 55.1 per cent of the total amount of payments.

The tax payments forecast for 2013 is defined in the volume of 6.4 billion manat.

In the period of January to March, 20,885 new taxpayers were registered in Azerbaijan. The number of individuals registered online from July 2011 to April 1, 2013 amounted to 69 090. The total number of taxpayers by April 1 totalled 500, 081.

In the first quarter of 2013, the share of electronic tax declarations comprised 91.6 per cent.

The official exchange rate for April 12 is 0.7845 AZN / USD.
