Turkey seeks to develop ICT cooperation with Turkic Council countries

The information and communication technologies are developing in the world with breathtaking speed and offering huge potential for the economic growth. Given these, Turkey wants to strengthen cooperation in this field with the countries of Turkic Council - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey Ahmet Arslan made these remarks while talking to Trend. He was commenting on the first meeting of the Turkic Council member countries’ ICT Ministers to be held in Baku.
The minister said that the countries of the Council, through developing cooperation, will be able to obtain greater benefits in this sector in the Asian and European regions.
“We want to implement joint projects in the field of e-government and cybersecurity, as well as to share our experience. Moreover, we, as a country-member of the Council, take a single position at international ICT meetings,” Arslan said.
Cooperation in the field of ICT will strengthen both Azerbaijan and Turkey, said the minister.
“I am sure that the first meeting of the Turkic Council member countries’ ICT Ministers will benefit our countries,” Arslan added.
ICT is considered to be one of the crucial spheres for the further development of the economy and an integral part of the economic and political reforms which are currently implemented in Azerbaijan.
Overall, the ICT sector has intensively developed in Azerbaijan over the past years. Creation and developing of the e-Government system, expanding the broadband internet services, launch of the telecommunication and low-orbit satellites, and many other are the evidence of Azerbaijan’s success in this sphere.
