Azerbaijani mountain climbers to conquer Himalayas

Azerbaijani mountain climbers Israfil Ashurlu and Firuz Dadashov will leave for Tibet autonomous region of China to conquer 8,027-meter high Shishapangma peaks of Himalayas Mount.

The expedition, which will last for over a month, will be undertaken in south-central Tibet, five kilometers from the border with Nepal.

Shishapangma is the highest peak of the Jugal Himal, which is contiguous with and often considered part of Langtang Himal. It is the fourteenth-highest mountain in the world and, at 8,013 m, the lowest of the eight-thousand.

Back in 2009, famous Azerbaijani mountain climber Israfil Ashurlu conquered alone the highest point of T'ien-Shan-Pick Pobeda (7,439 meters). Ashurlu is the first Azerbaijani who has conquered the most northern mountain over 7,000 meters high.

Ashurlu, as a member of the international expedition has also conquered other mountain in T'ien-Shan - Khan-Tengri of 7,010 meters.

Thus, Ashurlu has conquered all five highest peaks of the former USSR, and is the first among Azerbaijani sportsmen who has an honorable title "Snow Leopard".

He mounted first over 7,000 meters high peak "Peak Lenina" in August 2004, in 2005 he conquered "Peak Korzhenevskaya" of 7,135 m high, and the following year - "Peak Samoni" of 7,495 m.

Ashurlu managed to conquer the highest point of the planet 8,848 m high Everest in 2007.
