President Aliyev visits Guba region

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the country's Guba region on September 18.

The Head of State and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva started their visit by laying flowers at a monument to the national leader in the Heydar Aliyev Park of Culture and Leisure.

The Heydar Aliyev Park, which covers a total area of 5 hectares, was completely reconstructed. The park has 60 benches, 2 fountains, and a modern lighting system, created for residents' rest.

President Aliyev and the first lady attended the opening of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex built to honor victims of massacres committed in the area by Armenian and Bolshevik forces in 1918.

The president also attended a ceremony on the occasion of completion of the water supply and sanitation system reconstruction project in Guba.

The project envisages renovation of the sanitation services and improvement of water supply for 46,000 people in the town of Guba as well as Krasnaya Sloboda, Mirzamammadkend and Timiryazev villages. The new building was constructed for the Guba Canal Department.

The SCADA industrial control system was installed in the building. The Geographical Information System created here will help control the network infrastructure by application of digital maps based on geographical database. This system is a winner of the two big contests.

The state budget-funded project was completed within 22 months. Gudyalchai is the source for supplying Gubal and surrounding settlements with water.

The building also houses the modern laboratory for testing water.

The SCADA system is designed for controlling the water supply and sanitation systems from a single point. The Geographical Information System is used as a geographical database. This system is integrated into the Customer Data, SCADA, Electronic Security systems and provides comprehensive information about any facility in the water and sanitation infrastructure, facilitates rapid response to any accidents.

President Aliyev also opened a new administrative building of the Guba Region Executive Authorities.

The president attended the opening of the Guba Youth Center, on September 18.

The three-storey building, which was constructed with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has a 250-seat auditorium, a cafe, a karaoke bar, tennis and billiard halls and a chess room.

The president also opened the Green Theatre in Guba region.

The Azerbaijani leader and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva were told about the Flag Complex in the Heydar Aliyev Park. The flag pole is 78 meters in height. A children`s entertainment centre was also built in the Park.

President Aliyev also inspected Heydar Aliyev Garden in Girmizi Gesebe (Red Town) settlement in Guba region.

The president was told that the Heydar Aliyev Garden in Girmizi Gesebe is an indicator of a wide range re-development and landscaping works carried out in all of the regions of Azerbaijan. Construction of such kind of leisure spots in the most remote settlements of the country serves for the residents spending their free time efficiently. A successful policy led by the Azerbaijani government benefits each region of the country.

Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev's bronze statue was erected in the modern and high standard, luxury garden. The leisure center covers a total area of 27,500 square meters.

Extensive landscaping works have been carried out at the Heydar Aliyev Garden. The rest of the children have also been in the focus, as various attractions and facilities were installed in the corner for kids.

A three-storey guesthouse, cafes, tea houses as well as a club for the elderly have been created in the garden. Garden has been equipped with a modern lighting system. After familiarizing with the Heydar Aliyev Garden, president Aliyev met with the Girmizi Gesebe residents.

President Aliyev inspected the reconstructed bridge "Girmizi Korpu" over Gudyalchay River in Girmizi Gesebe settlement.

President Aliyev also opened the bridge on Guba-Gusar highway over the Gudyalchay River.

The president attended the opening of a new administrative building of the Guba Region Branch of the New Azerbaijan Party on September 18.

In the sideline of his trip, president Aliyev inaugurated the educational and cultural center of Baku State University in Guba.

The 400-seat Center with modern rooms and halls, sport grounds, as well as nice dining room, numerous labs and library will serve the staff members and students of University.

The president also inspected the construction works at the 5-star "Rixos Quba Azerbaijan" hotel in the Aski-Igrig village.

The hotel complex, which consists of 8-storey building and 16 cottages, will include construction of the restaurants, a swimming pool, sports ground and other facilities.

An artificial lake covering 27.3 square meters has been created, around of which there is a restaurant and helicopter ground. The complex will also include construction of ground for skiing and other facilities.

The hotel includes a mini-cinema, sports hall and other rooms, as well as tennis court, volleyball and football grounds.

President Aliyev also attended the opening of the National Golf Club in Guba region.

The Club has been built since the past year and has 44 golf cars. The complex also includes three artificial lakes for golf trainings.

The Head of State toured the club's territory which occupies a total area of 92 hectares by an electric car.
