Saudi Arabia aids relief effort after Haiti quake
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has allocated humanitarian aid worth
$50 million to assist those suffering in Haiti from the aftermath
of a recent earthquake that left hundreds of thousands dead, the
country’s embassy in Azerbaijan told AssA-Irada.
King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, custodian of the two Holy Mosques, has announced that the amount has been transferred to the relief fund spearheaded by the United Nations Secretary-General.
150,000 people died and 500,000 others were injured after a 7.3 point quake rocked Haiti on January 12. A total of about 3 million people have been affected by the calamity.*
