Azerbaijan and Türkiye have discussed measures to simplify customs procedures and facilitate faster and smoother cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor, AzerNEWS reports, citing Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.

The discussions were held during a meeting between Azerbaijani customs officials and a delegation from the Turkish Customs Enforcement General Directorate, led by Deputy Head Yaşar Baltac.

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the current relations between the customs authorities of the two countries, as well as with jointly implemented projects and efforts to study and share best practices.

The participants also discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation aimed at accelerating transit operations and improving the efficiency of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor.

As part of the visit, members of the Turkish delegation also visited the State Customs Committee’s Academy, the Main Department of Customs Control for Air Transport, and the Canine Center.

The delegation was briefed on scientific research and institutional approaches in the field of customs. They also received detailed information on the customs authorities’ activities in the canine sector and the organization of customs procedures in air transport.

The sides further exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in combating customs-related violations, improving risk management, and preventing smuggling and the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs.
