The Nakhchivan Industrial Park is set to be established in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, following a decree signed by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev. This decree outlines that the park will be equipped with the necessary infrastructure and management structures to support entrepreneurial activities. It aims to facilitate the production of competitive products and the provision of services through the use of modern technologies, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness and development of entrepreneurs in the region.

But what will the new park offer Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan?

The Industrial Park creates unparalleled opportunities for investments and state support. It represents a transformative stage in renewing Nakhchivan’s economic structure and bolstering its industrial sector.

The strategic significance of the park is further heightened by its alignment with the future opening of the Zangazur corridor. Once operational, this corridor will enable the seamless transportation of industrial goods from Nakhchivan to other parts of Azerbaijan and global markets.

The Zangezur corridor will expand market access for products from Nakhchivan, turning it into a pivotal player in regional and international trade. The Nakhchivan Industrial Park is located in the agriculturally rich Arazboyu plain, which accounts for 90% of the autonomous republic's agricultural output. Currently, the country’s potential in this field is estimated at 27,000 megawatts, and President Ilham Aliyev has prioritized the expansion of renewable energy, aiming for 30% of electricity to come from renewable sources by 2030 (up from the current 17%). As part of this broader strategy, Nakhchivan has been designated a “green energy” zone, alongside Garabagh and East Zangezur. The region's favorable geographical and climatic conditions make it an ideal location for harnessing solar energy, with an average of 2,600 to 2,800 sunny hours per year. This solar potential, with energy intensity reaching 0.8 to 1.2 kilowatt-hours per square meter, opens up year-round opportunities for sustainable energy production.

The recent construction and commissioning of new solar and wind power plants have already increased the share of renewable energy in Nakhchivan’s overall energy production.
