UK, Turkmenistan eye cooperation in oil and gas industry

UK's oil and gas companies are currently examining Turkmenistan's alluring market for further cooperation in this industry.

The issue was on the highest agenda during the business talks in Ashgabat with the delegation of the UK's leading companies specialized in the field of oil and gas.

The discussions focused on opportunities and forms of mutually beneficial cooperation with the enterprises of Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry

The meeting was attended by representatives of Perkins, Petrofac, Seetru, Mabey Bridge, Aggreko, Willis Towers Watson, Industrial Power Group, Tensar companies which are considered to be leaders in the oil and gas production and processing industry.

Representatives of the companies emphasized their interest in establishing partnerships in the promising Turkmen oil and gas market, presented their capabilities in the supply of new equipment and innovative technologies for the oil and gas industry, and the provision of services in this sphere.

Perkins company, which is considered to be one of the world’s leading providers of diesel and gas engines, has offered to adjust supply of gas generators, engines and spare details for local oil and gas enterprises.

Tensar Company has expressed its readiness to implement work on designing, transportation of large-size equipment and render its assistance in the installation and assembly of modular-type bridges.

Turkmenistan which has substantial reserves of oil and gas seeks for cooperation in the field of exploration, mining and processing of hydrocarbon resources, for the construction of gas processing facilities, and implementation of major and large-scale infrastructure projects to transport oil and gas.

Being the world's fourth country for gas reserves the country is considering European market as one of the most promising areas of gas supply and is looking to diversify its gas export portfolio, eyeing up new markets.

The Turkmen government is aimed at reaching ambitious production figures in the production of natural gas the volume of which amounts to 250 bcm, and export 200 bcm by 2030.

The Government’s National Socio-Economic Development Program for 2011–2030 and the National Rural Development Program are focused on the sustainable economic growth while preserving economic independence, modernizing the country’s infrastructure, and promoting foreign direct investment.
