Iran: no violation of nuclear deal by West
Iran has not observed any violations of the Joint Comprehensive
Plan of Action (JCPOA/ nuclear deal) by the West, a senior Iranian
official with Foreign Ministry said.
Hamid Baeidinejad, the director general for political and
international security affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said
that Tehran expects the members of the P5+1 group of countries to
fulfill their commitments regarding the nuclear deal, Fars news
agency reported.
However, some measures such as amendments to the US Visa Waiver
Program (bill HR158) have caused concerns among Iranian officials,
the official added.
Speaking about Iran’s concerns over the visa waiver program,
Baeidinejad added that US Secretary of State John Kerry has
reassured Tehran that the amendments to the US Visa Waiver Program
(bill HR158) will not breach the nuclear deal.
We are monitoring the situation and if we find out that the bill
HR158 poses obstacles for Iranian traders or journalists, we will
discuss the issue in the highest levels with the American
officials, Baeidinejad said.
The Visa Waiver Program allows citizens of about 38 countries,
mostly European, to travel to the United States for tourism,
business, or while in transit for up to 90 days without having to
obtain a visa. However, the recent amendment to the program imposes
restrictions on foreigners who intend to visit the US.
The legislation restricts many foreign nationals and those with
dual nationality who have visited Iran, Syria, Iraq and Sudan over
the past five years, from entering the US without a visa.
Aimed at preventing possible terrorist threats, the US officials
passed the legislation intended to limit certain travel privileges
in the aftermath of attacks in Paris and California.
