Chinese investors plan to build a walnut oil extraction plant in Kyrgyzstan, according to the Review.uz website.

The construction of the plant will be financed by Chinese investors, who have signed a memorandum with the Kyrgyz side.

Construction is set to begin in 2016 in the Bazar-Korgon district of Kyrgyzstan.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992, shortly after Kyrgyzstan left the Soviet Union.

The bilateral cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan also was strengthened due to their membership in the New Silk Road railway infrastructure project.

Such interactions with its close neighbors is expected to bring Kyrgyzstan tangible benefits in the near future and “will allow it to advance its national interests,” said President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev earlier.

The free trade zone in Naryn has also attracted a large number of businessmen from China, who have taken leading positions in some Kyrgyz businesses.

Earlier, the markets of Bishkek became the main point of sales of Chinese products for the Russian and Kazakh markets. The flow of goods from China to buyers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan has taken place through the wholesale market in Kara-Suu.

Kara-Suu, located in close proximity to the border with Uzbekistan, is an important inter-regional transport hub, which links Bishkek, Osh and Urumqi (China). The railroad linking Jalalabad and Andijan (Uzbekistan) also passes through Kara-Suu.

Active trade links with China in the middle 2000s enabled Kyrgyzstan to raise its GDP, where an important part of their trade relations became the re-exportation of Chinese goods to neighboring countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
