The Iranian Parliament began the confirmation hearing for the proposed ministers on August 12, debating whether or not to give a vote of confidence to the nominees introduced by Hassan Rouhani, Press TV reported.

Rouhani and his proposed ministers for the 11th administration's Cabinet were also attending the parliament session.

The debate on the vote of confidence to the Cabinet members may last for a few days.

Speaking to the parliament, Rohani noted that his country is in a difficult economic-social situation and international pressures have added to the problems.

Referring to the fact that the pressures have focused on the country's economy, the Iranian president said "the issue is not whether sanctions have been effective or not; the question is whether the method chosen by the Western countries is a correct or suitable approach to resolve an international issue."

Rouhani named imbalance of payments, funding and banking system among country's major problems, Iranian state IRINN TV reported.

He said in order to deal with these imbalances "we need enough of capabilities and a cabinet that should be able to handle these issues."

Elaborating on the general policies of his administration, Rouhani stressed that to tackle the current problems his administration will focus on two main goals: Firstly, overcoming international challenges, and secondly, resolving domestic economic issues and problems.

Among other key issues, Iranian president named the existence of different foreign currency prices, and lack of diversification in income sources.

Rouhani also stressed that the 11th government should be able to address these issues, and provide Iranians with better living conditions.

"Another priority of the government is not to reduce growth of liquidity, so that inflation in the country could be curbed, and that in turn will lead to better investment opportunities and establish positive macroeconomy results," Rouhani underscored.

The Iranian president said his administration would attempt to "overcome existing international challenges" through diplomatic channels while maintaining the country's independence.

Rouhani added that the administration would pursue a six-month plan in order to restore stability to the country's economy.

He went on to note that the new government will follow foreign policy, based on moderation.

Rouhani said the administration's general foreign policies would be based on "providing opportunities, eliminating threats and preventing tensions in the fields of crucial interests, creating mutual confidence as well as constructive and effective interaction with others."

Rohani, whose four-year tenure officially started on August 4, took over from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Numerous representatives of other countries were present at the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president. The delegations from over 50 countries included presidents, prime ministers, vice presidents and parliament speakers.

Rohani won Iran's June 14 presidential election with 50.7 percent of a total of over 36 million ballots. Voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.
