Georgia invites int’l observers to presidential election

Georgian Foreign Ministry has invited observers from different organizations to the upcoming October 2013 presidential election.

As reported by the ministry, official invitations were sent to democratic institutions of the OSCE, Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

"In these letters, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the wish of the Georgian side regarding arrival of international observers in Georgia within the period required for a full observation of the electoral process. The invitations sent to the ODIHR and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly highlighted importance of conducting the most transparent, free and fair elections and reaffirmed the readiness of the Georgian side to provide all possible assistance to international observers in the effective implementation of their activities," the ministry said.
