Turkish Foreign Minister warns of escalation in Middle East Conflict following US elections

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned of a potential escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

In an interview with the "Hurriyet" publication, he stated that Israel's aggressive actions in the region may intensify following the upcoming presidential elections in the United States, Azernews reports.

Fidan expressed concern that if Israel attempts to eliminate Iran's nuclear capabilities, it could significantly increase the risk of the conflict spreading to neighboring countries. He asserted that Israel’s primary objective appears to be the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and from the West Bank to Jordan. He cautioned that such actions could lead to greater instability in the region. "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may take steps to disable Iran's nuclear capabilities after the U.S. election. If this occurs, the likelihood of the conflict expanding will increase," he noted.

Furthermore, Fidan criticized Israel for continuously introducing new conditions in negotiations with the Palestinian Hamas movement. He remarked that this strategy seems to serve Israel's military objectives rather than genuine peace efforts. "We have strongly supported a ceasefire from the outset but have informed the parties that Netanyahu is stalling the talks to gain time," he added.
