Iraqi forces liberate Turkish consulate in Mosul

The Iraqi security forces gained control of the Turkish consulate located in the western part of Iraq’s Mosul, Turkish media outlets reported.

It was earlier reported that the Iraqi forces liberated the Mosul Government Complex.

Iraqi military continue their offensive in western Mosul. The operation to regain control over Mosul began in October 2016 with the support of an international US-led coalition.

In 2014, militants of the Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh) terrorist group captured Mosul and took 49 employees of the Turkish consulate hostage. The hostages were released three months later.
