Date of Greek FM’s Baku visit set
The date of the Greek foreign minister's official visit to Azerbaijan has been announced. Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will visit Azerbaijan on April 29-30, diplomatic sources reported to Trend news agency on Monday.
Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitrios Kourkoulas discussed preparations for the visit in Baku in early March.
"Greece is aimed at expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in a bilateral format and within the European Union (EU)," Kourkoulas said during a press conference on the outcome of the visit in Baku.
The Greek EU Presidency in the first half of 2014 will provide additional opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan, he said.
It is expected to cover these issues with the Azerbaijani side during the forthcoming visit.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the trade turnover between the two countries in 2012 amounted to $849.04 million with a share of exports of $833.8 million. Last year, export operations between the two countries increased more than fourfold and imports by 71.5 per cent.
