Azerbaijani Culture Days due in Sweden
Adish Mammadov, Azerbaijani ambassador to Sweden met with Per
Olsson, State Secretary to the Minister for Culture and Democracy
of Sweden.
The sides discussed development of cultural and humanitarian ties
between Azerbaijan and Sweden, AzerTag state news agency
reported.
Mammadov expressed satisfaction with the development of relations
between the two countries, stressed the need for better recognition
of Azerbaijani history and culture by Swedish community.
Development of cultural relations is important for bilateral
relations, the side emphasized.
Speaking about the activities of embassy, Mammadov noted that the
concert of Azeri jazz musicians organized in Stockholm with the
support of the Culture and Tourism Ministry was met with great
sympathy.
The ambassador said that Azerbaijani culture has ancient history
and the country’s rich cultural heritage entered the world’s
history and that it was created during thousands of years.
He also stressed becoming of Azerbaijan a cultural centre of the
world and regularly various international festivals, including the
intercultural, interreligious dialogue, humanitarian forums are
held in Azerbaijan.
Despite all this, it is regrettable that Swedish society is not
sufficiently informed about Azerbaijani rich culture and music.
To this end, Mammadov said that along with Nordic countries, the
Azerbaijani Culture Days will also be held in Sweden at the
initiative of the embassy by the Azerbaijani government, in
2015.
Per Olsson, in turn, said they are ready to support the development
of relations between the two countries and various cultural
events.
