Azerbaijani culture to be presented in Greece

Azerbaijan's State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev will give a concert in Athens Concert Hall performing folk, contemporary and classic music on June 6.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is expanding its international activities. This year, a series of events are planned to be held in Greece, a cradle of the Western civilization, with the support of the Foundation and Azerbaijan's Embassy in the country.

As part of the first cultural event, the orchestra will present interesting program at the Megaro Mousikis Music Complex, the largest music hall of the Greek capital.

In the classic music evening, works by world-renowned musicians such as Astor Piazzolla, Pablo de Sarasate, Ernesto de Curtis will be performed along with works by Azerbaijani composers Uzeir Hajibeyli, Fikret Amirov, Gara Garayev, Jahangir Jahangirov, Niyazi and Vagif Mustafazadeh.

Chief conductor of the concert is people's artist Teymur Goychayev.

The Azerbaijan cultural events in Greece will be held with an extensive information support. A special website http://azerbaijani-culture.gr was created to cover the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president Mehriban Aliyeva's activities, as well as a series of events planned to be held in Greece.

The invitation to these events can be purchased through the website. The first concert is a free ticket event, and tickets can be booked through the website.

Before the concert, visitors will become acquainted with various publications printed by the foundation in recent years.

The publications on the ancient and rich Azerbaijani culture include books devoted to the Azerbaijan National Art Museum, music instruments, manuscripts, various types of folk applied art, CDs devoted to pop, jazz, Mugham and classic music, as well as works by Nizami and Mahsati.

Previous cultural events held by the foundation abroad include exhibitions on celebrating the 20th anniversary of restoration of national independence by Azerbaijan, marking the 870th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, which was hosted in London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Strasbourg, and Rome.
