Azerbaijani pianist wins Int’l Music Contest

Young Azerbaijani pianist Fidan Amishova won the 10th International musical contest "Davorin Yenko" in Belgrade.

The competition has brought together young pianists from Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. The competition was held in five age categories. The judges included prominent musical experts from Croatia, Spain, Serbia and Macedonia.

"Davorin Jenko" in the last eight years has attracted attention of both Serbian and foreign musical population with its traditional, yet open attempt to reconcile the clashes and flexible attitude towards music and its traditional and modern approach with the appearance of artists of all ages, education and interests.

Music School "Davorin Jenko" was founded in 1951, when lessons in piano, violin and music theory were offered for not more than dozen of pupils. The number of students has been significantly increased, and today the school offers highest level of professional music education to more than 750 students.
