Nothing compares to pure beauty as a pristine winter landscape. Winter can be as beautiful as it is frigid – the snow and ice that covers much of the landscapes in the winter is a transformative force like no other.

To enjoy the most of a cold and unforgiving but enchantingly beautiful season, Art Tower Gallery in Baku has opened an exhibition "Wintry landscapes of Azerbaijan", Trend Life reported.

The purpose of the exhibition was to promote the nature of Azerbaijan by increasing young people's interest in landscape photography and support the work in this direction.

Curator of the exhibition Rustam Huseynov talking to Trend said that majority of photographers focus only on summer snapshots, but winter presents the most beautiful and unmissable sceneries.

“We have a very beautiful nature, nine out of 11 climate zones exist in Azerbaijan and photographers can take stunning photos here. However, most of photographers are focusing only on summer snapshots, but we have beautiful scenery also in winter. Local photographers take less wintertime photos as some areas are just physically hard to reach and sometimes it requires either climbing training, or appropriate equipment. But all efforts are paying off – the wintertime photos depict the wonderland,” said Huseynov.

Huseynov further mentioned that the exhibition features works by ten professional and amateur photographers, members of Azerbaijan's Union of Photographers.

"The main criterion for selection of photographs is the quality, as I believe that this exhibition will create an impression about our country," said Huseynov. “The exhibition shows how Azerbaijan looks in winter.”

The exposition aroused great interest among the visitors. The photographers enthusiastically informed the guests about their works and shared their impressions from visiting of picturesque corners of Azerbaijan's regions.

The project is organized jointly by Arts Council Azerbaijan and the Administration of State Historical and Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher”
